Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 2 Days & 1 Night

Day 01: Cusco – Km 104 – Chachabamba – Wiñay Huayna – Machu Picchu

The main attraction of the Inca Trail of 2 days is the archaeological complex of Wiñayhuana.
Huiñay Huayna (in Quechua, Wiñay Wayna: ‘eternally young’) is an Inca archaeological site in Peru. It is located on the Inca Trail, 3.3 km (in a straight line) to the south-southeast of Machu Picchu, between Puyupatamarca and Intipunku (the ‘gate of the Sun’, entrance to Machu Picchu).

Early pick-up from the hotel to the train station of Ollantaytambo; Where we’re gonna board the train at about 06:10 a.m., then we’ll continue the trip by train in a time of approximately 1 hour and 30 min till’ KM. 104. In the place, there is the access control where we’ll have to present our ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS to be registered. Then, we’ll start the Inca Trail, through the archaeological site of Chachabamba, and then we’ll begin the ascent of the mountain for approximately three hours to reach the archaeological complex of Wiñayhuayna at (2,650 masl / 8,694 ft.). Where we will have a break and taste our lunch. Continuing our trek to “Intipunku” (Sun Gate). From here, we might have a classic view of Machu Picchu after taking some pictures, we’ll head towards the control point and then take our bus down to “Aguas Calientes” where we’re gonna stay in a hotel for one night (breakfast and private bath).

Day 02: “Aguas Calientes” – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll take the first bus to the Inca city of Machu Picchu, after picking up our tickets in the control point; we’ll visit the archaeological complex of Machu Picchu tour that lasts 2 hours, then the guide will give you some time to explore and enjoy on your own. After a nice experience in Machu Picchu, we’ll have to return to “Aguas Calientes“, to take our train back to Ollantaytambo, where will wait for us our transportation to continue by bus to Cusco.
