Choquequirao Trek 5 Days & 4 Nights
It is located in the south-west of the city of Cusco at 3033 meters above sea level, in the foothills of the snow-capped Salkantay, north of the Apurímac river valley, in the district of Santa Teresa, province of the convention, in the department Of Cusco.
Choquequirao comes from the voice (Aymara chufqui, gold, and Quechua Kiraw, cradle is “cradle of gold”), (sometimes also referred to as Choquequirau or Chquequiraw is known as the “sacred sister” of Machu Picchu for structural similarity and Arquitectónica. The archaeological remains of Choquequirao are made up of buildings and terraces distributed in different levels from the lowest level Suchupata to the highest truncated top, which was leveled and surrounded with stones to form a platform with an area of approximately 150 square meters .

As well as in the flora variety of cultivation of coca, achiote, corn, cacao, coffee, and fruit trees.
Day 01: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca.
Our bus will pick you up from your hotel at 06:00 a.m. Then, we will begin our journey to the village of Cachora. Our trip will last approximately 5 hours from Cusco to Cachora. (2,800 masl / 9,186 ft). We’ll arrive approximately at 10:00 a.m. And then, we’ll begin our trek along this path and we will see the most beautiful scenery in the area and get to “Abra del Capuliyoc” (2,915 m. / 9,563 ft) .In the place, we will have lunch with a panoramic view of Apurimac Valley and the snowy mountain of Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora, from Capuliyoc our first glimpses of Choquequirao, after we’ll descend to Coca Masana (2,330 masl / 7,644 ft). Where the climate here is hot, flora and fauna start to change. Finally, we’ll reach Chiquiscá (1,900 masl / 6,233 ft.) near Apurimac River where will be our 1st camp.
Day 02: Chiquisca – “Rosalina Beach” – Santa Rosa – Maranpata.
Very early in the morning, we will have our breakfast at 06:00 a.m and then, we’ll continue our walk around 1hour and 30 min. Down to reach Rosalina beach and cross a suspension bridge over “Apurimac River”. Then, we’ll begin to ascend the mountain to Santa Rosa (2,115 masl / 6,938 ft.), Where we will have lunch. During our tour, we will see the vegetation in the area. Then, we’ll reach Maranpata off Chunchumayo river where after we will have a short break. This section is very hard because after our break we’ll have 3 hours for climbing up to our 2nd camp, Marampata (2,850 masl / 9,350 ft.).
Day 03: Maranpata – Choquequirao – Maranpata.
After our Andean breakfast at 07:00 am, we will walk from Maranpata to Choquequirao (3,035 masl / 9,957 ft.) to 2 hours, walking, we’ll reach the archaeological complex and enjoy the amazing views of the Canyon of Apurimac and if it we have the opportunity to see the condor in flight, reaching Choquequirao Complex, we will have a 1-hour tour to see Choquequirao and two hours of detailed explanation of the importance of the complex. We’ll arrive to Maranpata at around 03:00 p.m where we will have lunch and then enjoy the entrance of the sun, we will have our 3rd camp.
Day 4: Maranpata – Santa Rosa – “Playa Rosalina” – Chiquisca.
We’ll start to descend to Santa Rosa (2,115 masl / 6,938 ft.) where we will have lunch. Then, we’ll continue descending to “Playa Rosalina” (1,550 masl / 5,085 ft) after arriving at the beach, we’ll continue to the village of Chisquisca (1,950 masl / 6,397 ft). After two hours of walk, we’ll have our 4th camp, here in Chiquisca we might find some drinks and our snack.
Day 5: Chiquisca – Capuliyoc – Cachora – Cusco.
After our breakfast in Chiquisca (at 06:00 a.m), we’ll return and take the path to Cachora where we will climb for an approximate time of 2 hours and 30 min to Capuliyoc Pass (2,915 masl / 9,563 ft). From here, we will have 4 hours until you reach the village of Cachora (2,800 masl / 9,186.35 ft). Arriving at approximately 12:00 p.m to Cachora. During the tour, we will see the lush landscapes and the majestic snow-capped mountains and the impressive Canyon of Apurimac. In Cachora, we will have lunch then continue our trip to Cusco. Arriving at 08:00 p.m.
