Ausangate Trek 6 Days & 5 Nights
It is the highest mountain in Peru and its maximum altitude is 6,372msn. It is located about 100kms south east of the city of Cusco, located in the Cordillera de los Andes in a stretch called Vilcanota mountain range, corresponding to the region of Cusco.
The attractions you have are Natural Sivinacocha is that according to Inca mythology is born of the Masculine energy that fertilizes the mother earth pachamama.
Day 01: Cusco – Upis.
Pick-up from hotel at 05:30 a.m, travelling approximately 2 hours and 30min by bus to Ausangate-Tinque village close at (3,750 masl / 12,303 ft.). Here, we’ll start our trek of 4 hours and 1/2 through inter Andean plateaus and valleys with lots of animals such as llamas, alpacas. Reaching Upis where we’ll spend the night and enjoy the hot springs.
Day 02: Upis – Puka – Ccocha.
We’ll start our ascent to reach the first step of Arapa (4,850 masl /15.912 ft.) where we will see lakes and landscapes, we will be closer to Ausangate. Then, we will descend to our camp Pukaccocha, which is located between peaks and glaciers and numerous waterfalls abounding in the area as Huallatas and vizcachas. Here, this will be our 2nd camp.
Day 03: Pukacocha – Kancha Pampa.
In the morning, we’ll climb two hours until we reach the “Pass of Apacheta”, from which we will have panoramic views of the countryside. We’ll descend to go through Ausangate Lagoon, from where begins another ascent to the highest point of our circuit the Palomani Pass (5,150 masl / 16,896 ft.) where we will see the highest peaks of all this way, then we’ll descend to our 3rd camp Kanchapampa.
Day 04: Kanchapampa – Pacaccocha.
We’ll start to go through a plateau and the view of the snowy “Tres Picos” then start the ascent taking the right side of Ccolque Cruz glaciers and three peaks, reaching thus to K`ampa pass for arriving at an altitude of approximately (5,000 masl /16,404 ft.) to have a view of numerous lagoons, and then we’ll descend between rocks and lakes and finally arrive at our 4th camp: Pacaccocha.
Day 05: Pacaccocha – P`Acchanta.
This tour will take approximately 3 hours and then, we’ll have the afternoon free in our camp and we could enjoy the thermal baths of Pacchanta and physically regroup. Here, we will have our last camp.
Day 06: Pacchanta – Cusco.
Our last day on the road, we’ll continue and enjoy the magnificent scenery, with a view of Ausangate mountain and the view of snowy peaks of Vilcanota mountain range. We’ll pass by Cullpacata communities, Yamana, and Quinsapuccio Mojonpata. After that, we’ll return to Tinque where our bus will wait for us to go back to Cusco.
