1st Day:
Cusco-Huayllabamba. |
After your early breakfast in hotel we drive you to Urubamba Valley in our tourist bus, we stop for a while in the Ollantaytambo town, to organize our porter, after this break, we drive you to Km 82 (2650 m./8,694ft.) where we begin our trek, after the control of your passports at the control of Piskacucho, we continue walking, this day we see the dry forest, approximately at noon we do a break for having our lunch then we continue walking to Huayllabamba, we arrive to our campsite about 3 or 4 pm afternoon. Dinner and Overnight at camping place of Huayllabamba (3100 m. /10,170 ft.). (L, D)

2nd Day: Huayllabamba

After our nice breakfast we begin to walk up, this is one of the hardest days of the trek. We climb slowly up to Warmiwañuska pass at 4215 m. /13 828 ft. and are rewarded with stunning views of mountains, including the cloud forest at the beginning of the trail. This trek takes us 5 hours approximately to climb just to the very top of the pass and we descend two more hours to our campsite in Pacaymayu Alto Valley (3600 m. /11,811 ft.), where we have our lunch, dinner and overnight. 3rd Day:
Pacaymayu-Wiñaywayna. |
After early breakfast we will have a very nice day walking on different ecological levels like highlands, clod forests and rain forest and visiting many archaeological sites as well. First we climb to Runkurakay pass on the way we visit the archaeological site of Runkurakay at 3760 m. /12,335 ft., after visiting the site we continue going up to the very top at 3900 m./12,795 ft. where we do a break, and then we descend to the archaeological site of Sayacmarca at 3625 m./11,893 ft., after enjoying this site we continue walking to our lunch place,

where we rest an hour tasting our delicious food, then after one hour walking we arrive to Phuyupatamarka pass at 3600 m./11,811ft.), where we rest for taking some photographs of the surrounding mountains including a nice view of the snowcapped of Salkantay and the range of mountains of the Cordillera de Vilcabamba even from the trail we have a view of the Urubamba valley and the Aguas Calientes town. After enjoying this pass we visit the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarka, and then we go on the steep descending stairs to our campsite, in about 2 hours we arrive to the campsite of Wiñaywayna, where we rest and have the choice to take hot showers at the restaurant of the ex-lodge of Wiñaywayna. 4th Day: Wiñaywayna -
Machu Picchu. |

Very early in the morning we have our breakfast then we go to the control of Wiñaywayna and after controlling the entrance tickets we walk to the so known Inti Punku (Sun gate) - 2720 m./8,923ft.- for having our first impressive view of Machu Picchu, after enjoying this moment we descend to the archaeological site for taking the so known postcard photo of Machu Picchu, then we have to go to the control for leaving our backpacks and then we have time to enjoy a nice guided tour about two hours.

After the guided tour you can spend some hours to visit and enjoy the place by yourself. After your nice experience in Machu Picchu, you have to take the bus down to the Aguas Calientes town, for returning by train to Cusco. And finally we pick up you at the train station to your Hotel. (B).

Equipment List:
On this expedition we will be
experiencing all climates from cold in Cusco to warm and
extremely hot sunshine in Machu Picchu. During the day
hopefully it will be generally sunny enough for shorts and
T-shirts though having a fleece and rain gear handy is
advisable. It will get cold in the evenings so bring a warm
fleece jacket, a good waterproof and some warm clothes
including thermal underwear, gloves, scarf and woolly hat as
well as one set of smarter clothes for Cusco. Good quality
Alpaca jumpers are available in Cusco. A good quality
sleeping bag is essential for your enjoyment of this trip.

Please
note:

• The porters carry just
the heavy camping gear on the trail so if you want an
extra help for carrying your belongings, you can hire a
private porter in Cusco (if is available) but that
doesn't mean that the porter is going close to you, so
please bring a small day-pack to carry your personal day
gear in - ie water-bottle, camera, sun-block, insect
repellent, light fleece and rain jacket.

• Any excess gear may be
stored in Cusco at your hotel.

• Most good quality
sporting equipment is unavailable in Peru so if anyone
wishes to donate any outdoor clothes, sleeping bags etc
they will be gratefully received by any of our staff.

booking we will forward confirmation and complete
information of the trail and included services.

• The balance is due not
less than 8 weeks prior to departure.

• Upon receipt of your final
balance you will receive detailed joining instructions.

lastly please note:
This is a very nature and
adventure trek and we expect our clients to be prepared for
any alteration in climate or/and change in regulations on
the trail to change programmed events.
This expedition involves
trekking over several high passes up to 4200m./13,780ft, and
involves steep descents. It is recommended that all clients
should have some previous trekking experience and should be
in reasonable fitness.
You should also be aware that
adventure travel, in particular trekking and travelling in
remote areas such as Southern Peru, does carry with it
certain inherent risks that you, the client, will have to
assume. You will have to take out adequate travel insurance
to cover these risks and any costs incurred due to sickness,
delayed flights and other factors out of Gregory Adventure
Perú control.
A pre-departure meeting will
be held on arrival in Cusco. It is highly recommended you
attend. All clients will be asked to sign a risk assumption
form and must provide a photocopy of their passport, Peru
entry stamp and details of their travel insurance.

The number of people on the
Inca Trail is restricted to 500 per day -
approx 200 tourists and 300
porters and staff. Trekkers must still travel as part of an
organised group .............................
This means that it is
important to book well in advance to guarantee your permit
on the days you require especially in the peak months of
June to September. |
